Lou Reed dead celebrity world react Twitter - Miley Cyrus, Lena Dunham

The stars have turned to Twitter in their droves to tweet tributes to the late rock legend Lou Reed, who passed away over the weekend aged 71.

The pioneering musician, who fronted the Velvet Underground before enjoying an exceptional solo career, underwent a liver transplant in May this year. However, his cause of death is as of yet undetermined.

His passing nevertheless attracted a wealth of celebrity attention - and uncovered some unlikely fans, too. Including Miley Cyrus, who tweeted a simple: "noooooooooo notttttttttt LOU REED"

Girls star Lena Dunham posted: "We love you Lou. We love you Laurie."
