McBeal duo not extended
Marsden, Nicholson extensions not picked up
Rookie “Ally McBeal” cast members James Marsden and Julianne Nicholson will exit the Fox laffer in early February.
Marsden, who plays Glenn Foy, and Nicholson, who portrays Jenny Shaw, were signed on this season for 13 episodes each, with an option to extend for the back nine episodes of the season. The extension was not picked up for either actor. Nicholson may pop up later in the season, however, said a spokeswoman for skein’s producer David E. Kelley Prods.
Regina Hall, who plays Corretta Lipp, and Josh Hopkins, who plays Raymond Milbury, also were introduced this season under a similar deal. They are expected to stay put, as they were picked up for the additional nine episodes.
News follows a report earlier this week in which exec producer David E. Kelley admitted the show has gotten off track creatively this season, in part because he introduced a plethora of new characters.
