A person barricaded themselves and two children in a Florida home, only setting them free after a standoff with police that lasted over 16 hours. Shortly after 4.30pm Tuesday, the Highlands County Sheriff's Office released an update announcing that the children were safe. Prior to their release, the children had been trapped in a residence in the remote community of Venus since midnight. Authorities did not release information on the exact location of the home, but Allison Booth, a community transit employee, told Dailymail.
