In the '80s, the Twin Cities became the center of a bustling indie rock scene, and Peter Jesperson was in the thick of it all.

As the co-founder of the independent record label Twin/Tone Records, he helped develop bands like The Replacements, The Jayhawks and Soul Asylum. Before that, Jesperson helped curate that burgeoning music scene as the manager of the legendary record store Oar Folkjokeopus.

His new memoir is called Euphoric Recall: A Half Century as a Music Fan, Producer, DJ, Record Executive, and Tastemaker. In this session, Jesperson revisits some memories from his career, from spotting the brilliance of The Replacements to possibly being let go from R.E.M. for being "too nice."
