Nebraska Huskers Wrestler Peyton Robb Reveals Unseen Pictures After OvercomingLife-Threatening Bact
Nebraska Huskers are all set to take over the opponent team, No. 2 Iowa Hawkeyes, in the upcoming showdown scheduled at the Devaney Centre. Beginning at 6:30 pm, the match is scheduled to take place on Friday night. Eventually, this will be the 35th meet for the teams in the history of the wrestling series.
But this is not the only reason why Nebraska Huskers are under the spotlight. The team is currently in the midst of a social media frenzy due to the remarkable recovery of their top three wrestlers from a life-threatening infection. These wrestling athletes are not only battling one of the rarest but also the most lethal opponents in the lives of wrestlers, and they are triumphing over their adversaries along the way.
How did Peyton Robb get infected?
Peyton Robb, a 23-year-old wrestling sensation, nearly lost his leg due to an infection caused by a flesh-eating bacteria. Unfortunately, the tale of intense pain started way back in March when Peyton first got crummy at the competition. Although he tried his best to be tough, he collapsed and vomited after the match.
To share the tough and inspiring story of Peyton, FloWrestling took to their Instagram account and posted a video clip of the wrestler along with pictures and videos throughout his journey. Along with the picture, they penned, “WARNING ⚠️ This is Graphic ⛔️Check out what happened to Nebraska’s Peyton Robb after a severe skin infection at last year’s NCAAs.”
In the same video, Peyton Robb said, “It’s my tendon. You can see on the picture on the right, some of the infected areas. That’s black that they would still have to cut out because that’s in between some of the surgeries.”
Upon reaching the hospital, Robb discovered that doctors initially dismissed his bruise as a common infection. However, as the bruise turned red, swollen, and painful, he was diagnosed with necrotizing fasciitis, a rare bacterial infection that can lead to the decay of flesh. The infection likely occurred when bacteria entered a cut or graze sustained during wrestling. Despite the challenges, Robb found a way to conquer his fear and is determined to return to the wrestling mat.
Overcoming the intense pain
After nearly two weeks of surgeries, doctors cut away black spots and treated Peyton in the hospital for a couple of months. Multiple operations involved removing larger chunks of skin from his thighs and grafting them to cover the infected areas. Despite ongoing recovery with darkened skin, Peyton showed immense strength.
Peyton has made a comeback to the wrestling mat and is now aiming to compete in the 157-pound weight class in the upcoming series against Iowa Hawkeyes. He is set to face off against Jared Franek from the opposing team. The question remains: Can No. 3 Peyton overcome his opponent in the upcoming showdown?
